What you do not see
Tile and grout are not waterproof on their own. We install a continuous waterproofing layer behind showers and wet areas before the tile goes on, so the beauty is backed by a dry wall.
Common questions
Is grout waterproof?
No. Tile and grout shed most water but let some through. The waterproofing layer behind the tile is what keeps the wall and floor dry.
Can you build a curbless shower?
Often, yes. The floor has to slope to the drain, which can mean lowering or reframing the subfloor. We check the framing before we promise it.
Can natural stone go in a shower?
Yes, with the right stone and sealer. Some stones are softer or more porous than porcelain, so we talk through care and upkeep before you choose.
