Kitchen Remodeling in New Hampshire

Most kitchen remodels we do keep the existing layout and replace almost everything else: cabinets, countertops, backsplash, lighting, sink and dishwasher hookups, and the patching and painting that ties it together. Keeping the layout keeps the plumbing and walls where they are, which keeps the project focused on what you see and use.

What a kitchen remodel includes

A typical Atlas kitchen remodel includes demolition of the old cabinets and counters, new semi-custom cabinets, quartz countertops, a tile backsplash, new lighting installed by a licensed electrician, reconnecting the sink and dishwasher, and patching and painting the walls. Appliances, the sink and faucet, and flooring are chosen by you and priced separately.

Cabinets make the biggest difference to the price

Cabinet lines vary more than anything else in a kitchen. Two kitchens with the same footprint can land far apart depending on the cabinet line, the door style and the countertop material, which is why our ballpark ranges for kitchens are wider than for other work. The written estimate narrows it once you have chosen.

Changing the layout

Moving the sink, the range or a wall changes the plumbing, gas, electrical and sometimes the structure, so layout changes are priced after a site visit. Atlas is not a structural engineering firm. When a project needs an engineered design, a licensed structural engineer designs it and we build to that design. Removing or opening a bearing wall always gets an engineered design.

Older kitchens

In homes built before 1978, kitchen demolition usually disturbs painted surfaces, so we follow EPA RRP lead-safe practices. Old kitchens also tend to hide water damage under the sink and behind the dishwasher; we show you what we find and price the repair before closing it up.

Common questions

Who does the plumbing and electrical?

Atlas handles the sink and dishwasher reconnection. Lighting and other electrical work is done by a licensed electrician.

Can I supply my own appliances?

Yes. Appliances are not part of our kitchen price, so you can choose and buy them yourself; we will plan the cabinets around their sizes.

Why is the kitchen range so wide?

Because cabinet lines and countertops vary so much. The low end of the range reflects simpler lines and the high end reflects the most expensive ones. Once you choose, the estimate narrows.
