Common questions
Should I build an addition or an ADU?
An addition adds space to your home. An accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is a separate living unit with its own kitchen and bath, which New Hampshire law allows on most single-family lots. Our ADU page covers the rules.
Do I need a permit for an addition?
Yes. Additions need a building permit, and many towns also check setbacks and lot coverage. We help with the drawings and the permit application.
How do you tie an addition into the old house?
The roof, walls and foundation of the addition have to join the existing house without leaks or cold spots. We plan the flashing, air sealing and insulation at that joint before construction starts.
